Cricket: Emphatic win for Al Turki NMC

MUSCAT: Premier Division veterans Muscat CT’s poor form continued with another dismal performance with the bat leading to a 7-wicket loss against Al Turki NMC at Oman Cricket turf ground 1 in Amerat on Friday.
Invited to bat, Muscat was dismissed for a paltry 73 in 27 overs with fit-again Ajay Lalcheta taking 3 for 9 and Gopendra Bohara picking up 3 for 17.
Al Turki raced to the small target in the 16th over, scoring 74 for 3 thanks to Twinkle Bhandari’s fluent 37 off 38. Sandeep Goud bagged two wickets for Muscat.
Brief scores: Muscat CT 73 all out in 27 overs (Ajay Lalcheta 3-09, Gopendra Bohara 3-17) lost to Al Turki NMC 74 for 3 in 15.1 overs (Twinkle Bhandari 37 – 3x4, 2x6. Sandeep Goud 2-20) by 7 wickets.
Enhance Eagles win
Vamshi Vadthya slammed a scintillating 113 not out to steer MDC Enhance Eagles to an exciting 5-wicket victory against IT Works in an A Division game at the same venue on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, IT Works posted a robust 241 on the board before being all out in the penultimate over of its innings. Mohammed Asgar Shaikh (46) and Muzammil Ilyas (41) were the main scorers. P. Shankar, Amanpreet Singh and veteran Guru Prasanna took two wickets each.
Having lost its openers at 17 by the 6th over, Eagles’ chase was led by one drop Vamshi who batted brilliantly till the end to power his side to an emphatic win. Vamshi got precious support from old war horse Ikhtiar Kazmi (37 not out) and Sudeep Chavan (36). Mudassir Iqbal and Muzammil Ilyas claimed two wickets each.

Big win for PSD
In another A Division game, Azmat Ullah (81) and Imran Rijvi (6 for 31) guided Platinum Services Diamond (PSD) to a big 140-run win against OCT Muscat at OC grassy ground 2 on Friday.
Azmat’s 81 off 114 was the highlight of PSD’s total of 216 all out in the 45th over. Tauseef Ahmad (35 not out) and Manjit Singh (26) were the other main scorers. Wasim Ismail and Nawed Al Balushi bagged three and two wickets respectively.
Picking up six wickets in his spell, Imran Rijvi proved to be too hot to handle as OCT Muscat was bundled out for a meagre 76 in the 20th over.

Imran Rijvi 6-31, Rubel Abdus Sattar 2-06, Tauseef Ahmad 2-31) by 140 runs.
Easy win for ISC Women
Impressive performances by Payal Kanojia and Geetha Jagdish helped ISC Women to a comfortable 6-wicket victory against Women’s Cricket Sohar (WCS) in a Women’s League match at OC Grassy ground 2.
Baating first, WCS scored 113 for 8 in 20 overs, Bhavya Shetty and Kavya Shetty toscoring with 17 each. Payal was the pick of ISC bowlers, taking 3 for 14.
IT took ISC only 17.3 overs to overhaul the target, scoring 114 for 4 thanks to Geetha’s impressive 34. Trupti Pawde chipped in with an unbeaten 16.
