Muscat: The traditional Omani horse and camel racing and showcasing event Al Ardhah has been added to the United Nations cultural authority's list of "intangible cultural heritage".
Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Culture confirmed the same, in a statement: "Omani horses and camels Al Ardhah have been added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity."
Ibrahim Bani Orrabeh, Head of Department for Safeguarding Intangible Heritage in the Ministry: "The declaration of listing confirms the cultural and civilisational depth of the Sultanate, and on this occasion I am pleased to congratulate the Sultanate and the practitioners of horse and camel sport for this achievement."
