
Muscat: The Board of Directors of the Fisheries and Agriculture Development Fund held its second meeting for 2018 under the chair of Dr. Fu’aad bin Ja’afar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Chairman of the Fund.
The Fund’s Board approved to finance ten projects, including four agricultural projects and 6 fisheries projects at a cost of OMR1.2 million.
The projects are expected to contribute to developing and sustaining the agricultural and fisheries sector, enhancing the food security system, creating job opportunities and diversifying sources of the national income.

The Board also discussed administrative, financial and organisational issues.
It also followed up the progress made in implementing its decisions in 2018. It also reviewed the status of 15 projects, which the Fund is financing.
Further, the Board also reviewed a proposal to amend the criteria of project selection in line with the requirements of the Royal Decree No. 23/2017 which amended the Fund system and its aims.
It also discussed its strategy for 2040, which enhances the Fund’s growth. It also reviewed the proposed organisational chart of the Fund, as well as the criteria to enhance the Fund’s resources and partnership opportunities with the different stakeholders.
