Muscat: Arab singing sensation Balqees Fathi paid tribute to Muscat after performing in the Sultanate's capital.
Speaking about her love for Muscat, the Emirati-Yemeni superstar wrote in a statement, "A passionate, powerful and beautiful celebration at the Al Madina Theatre with a singing and interactive crowd.... could anything else be sweeter?"
The statement was released following her performance at Qurum Park's Al Madina Theatre.
Fathi, the daughter of renowned composer and oud player Ahmed Fathi, has been regarded as one of the Arab world's most popular talents since releasing her first song, Masaa'la Sahla, in collaboration with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Emirati singer Fayez Al Saeed. Her debut album, Majnoun Balqees, followed in 2013.
Since her debut, the singer and soprano has gone on to win numerous awards in the Middle East and abroad, including L’Officiel Middle East Arab Woman of the Year award for “Young Talent 2012". She was also appointed as UN Women's first Planet 50-50 champion for the Arab States Region.
