Sixth edition of infrastructure summit held

Muscat: Leading names of the construction, infrastructure, real estate, manufacturing and design and engineering consultancies participated in the Dossier Construction’s Infrastructure Awards and Summit 2018, organised on November 14 at Sheraton Oman.
This year marked the sixth edition of the event and was organised under the auspices of Ministry of Housing and endorsed by Special Economic Zone Authority Duqm, Madayn and Omran.
The event was divided into two parts – summit in the first half of the day and an awards function in the evening.
Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, Chairman of Oman Tender Board was the chief guest and the guest of honour was Dr Darwish bin Saif al Maharbi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Health. The event was also graced by Sheikh Salim Bin Mustahail Al Mashani.
The summit begin with a presentation by Yarub Hadhrami, Integrated Housing Development Project Director, Supreme Council for Planning, on the status update of Integrated Housing Development Project.
It was followed by a presentation on the status and key benefits of Madinat Sandan project by Sheikh Mohammed Al Kindi, Chairman of Sandan. In another presentation, Haneen Hammoudeh, Head of Design at F&M Middle East Engineering, talked about the company’s strengths and some of the sustainable projects.
The summit also featured a panel discussion on ‘Building A More Sustainable Nation - Opportunities and Challenges’ involving the top names from the industry including Khalid Al Yahmadi, CEO of Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS); Hassan Mohamed Juma Al Lawati, MD, Atlantic Construction and Chairman, Oman Real Estate Association; Fawzi Al Harrassy, Executive Director, Teejan Group and Vice Chairman, Oman Society of Contractors; Khalid Al Mahrooqi, Founder and MD, Premier Projects and Vice Chairman, Oman Green Building Council; Per Morten Aarvold, General Manager, Jotun Oman; Nadia Maqbool, Founding Partner, 23 Degrees North; and Sridhar Sharma, Country General Manager, Schneider Electric Oman who was also the moderator of the panel discussion.
Later in the evening, the awards function was held to felicitate the best industry performers, practices, technologies and projects. Overall, 27 awards were presented to the deserving companies, professionals and industry leaders across various categories.
The event culminated with the presentation of coveted ‘Business Leader of the Year Award’ to Hassan Mohamed Juma Al Lawati and ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to Hamed Salem Issa Al Harrasi, Chairman, Teejan Group.
Leading names from the industry supported the event as sponsors and partners.
The event is instituted by Dossier-Construction magazine, Oman’s first and only business-to-business (B2B) magazine on the construction sector, published by United Media Services.
