Municipality urges vacationers to keep Oman clean

Muscat: Municipal authorities across Oman have urged vacationers not to dirty places and to clean up after their picnics or camping trips are done.
Due to National Day holidays several people have been frequenting beaches and other picnic spots in the country and authorities have revealed that many have dirtied these places.
The directorate of municipalities in Southern Barka said, “This is what Sawadi beach looked like after an influx of visitors last night. Barka Municipality asks visitors to collect garbage and dispose them in the proper manner to sustain the area’s beauty. Please remember: Oman deserves to be clean.
“The municipality continues to intensify cleaning campaigns aimed at general cleanliness, public restrooms, and garbage disposal during holidays for the 48th National Day,” the statement read.
Muscat Municipality added, “We urge residents to limit negative behaviour such as tampering with equipment, disposing of garbage in wrong places, and disfiguring public picnic area. As you found it clean, please leave it clean.”
The Ministry also cited the law, which states that wrongful disposal of garbage carries a fine of OMR100, which increases with repeated offences.
