GCC leaders congratulate Oman on 48th National Day

Muscat/Abu Dhabi: Leading officials of the United Arab Emirates have greeted their Omani brothers and sisters on the 48th National Day.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was among those to greet the people of Oman.
“We congratulate our brotherly of Oman on the 48th National Day, which culminates in the achievements of their Blessed Renaissance under the leadership of my brother His Majesty Sultan Qaboos,” he said. “Oman is from us and we are from them. They are our brothers and sisters and our extended relationships are made proud and enriched by our people every day.” Two of the UAE’s ministers also greeted their fellow neighbours in Oman. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, the UAE’s Minister of State, spoke to Times of Oman from Al Ain, which is 35 kilometres from the Omani border.
“For me, it is really a great pleasure to extend my heartiest congratulations to our brethren in Oman, from Al Ain. We are here, particularly, very close to Oman, only 10 minutes across the border. The historic ties that bring together the people of Oman and the people of the Emirates are rooted in history and civilisation, and I am very happy to really offer the best wishes for the people of Oman under the government of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.”
“It is the same history, the same traditions, the same heritage, and the same past, social mores, cultural mores and shared by the people of Oman and the Emirates,” added Nusseibeh. “There is a great deal of intermarriage, understanding, especially in this area where the tribes have in effect been moving freely between Oman and the Emirates, feeling like they belong to one people, bonded together in brotherhood and in history.”
Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development in the United Arab Emirates Government, also took time to wish the people of Oman on the occasion of National Day.
“I would love to congratulate our brothers and sisters of Oman,” she said. “I hope all the best for Oman, living in peace and prosperity, and I hope we can also enjoy the celebrations here in the UAE. There are many shared cultures, and this is an endless conversation. We are brothers and sisters.”
