Oman calls for quick, serious effort to arrest biodiversity decline

Sharm El-Sheikh: The Sultanate stressed the need to urge all States Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to work quickly and seriously to reduce the rapidly deteriorating biodiversity currently being experienced worldwide and to use its components in a sustainable way for the human wellbeing and reduction of poverty.
In its speech at the United Nations convention on Biological Diversity in 2018, which includes the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention, delivered by Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Isai, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, the Sultanate said that it hopes that all discussions will produce positive results and that the conference will come out with consensus recommendations and decisions that will meet the aspirations and needs of all parties so that efforts can be made to preserve biological diversity at all national, regional and global levels, and to help the convention to meet its goals.
Al Issaie said that the Sultanate has been working on updating its national strategy and action plan for biological diversity in accordance with the Global Strategic Plan, as well as implementing many projects and activities to preserve biological diversity and protect wildlife. -ONA
