MUSCAT: Oman Women’s Sport Committee held its second annual meeting under the chairmanship of Sayyida Sanaa bin Hamad Al Busaidiyah, Committee Chairman.
The chairman opened the meeting by welcoming the committee’s members and thanking them for the efforts made towards the success of the Salalah Khareef Women’s Sport Forum held in the Governorate of Dhofar in August in concurrence with the Salalah Tourist Festival 2018.
The meeting discussed a number of items on the agenda, including perusal and approval of the record of the committee’s first meeting held on July 12 and reviewed the plans and activities of the Oman Women’s Sport Committee and preparation of women athletes supervised by the committee.
The committee proposed the participation in the 6th GCC Women’s Sports Games scheduled to be held in Kuwait from March 3-13, 2019.
Eights sports were proposed to be involved, namely volleyball, athletics, shooting, handball, taekwondo, basketball, bowling and athletics for persons with special needs. Coordination will be initiated with Oman Olympic Committee and sports associations in this respect.
