Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher to close at 4503.68 points, up by 0.27 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 609.80 points, up by 0.16 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Dhofar Insurance up by 9.82 per cent while the top loser was National Gas which closed lower by 3.09 per cent.
A total number of 365 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.02 million with more than 6.07 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded stocks, 9 advanced, 9 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR26,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR2,000 while GCC and Arab investors remained as net buyers for OMR28,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.07 per cent at 7012.19 points. Dhofar Insurance, Muscat Finance, Al Anwar Holding and Ahli Bank were up by 9.82 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 0.97 and 0.66 per cent, respectively. Gulf Invest Services Holding, Bank Nizwa, Al Sharqia Investment Holding and Bank Muscat were down by 2.38 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.26 per cent to close at 5383.56 points. Almaha Ceramics and Raysut Cement were up by 6.6 per cent and 1.45 per cent respectively. Gulf International Chemicals, Oman Fisheries and Oman Flour Mills were down by 1.51 per cent, 1.3 per cent and 1.13 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 0.23 per cent to close at 2418.18 points. Al Jazeera Services, Omantel and Muscat Gases were up by 4.42 per cent, 2.87 per cent and 0.43 per cent respectively. National Gas and Muscat City Desalination were down by 3.09 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively.
