Oman opens first crafts e-portal in the world

Muscat: The first electronic portal in the world for improving crafts services was inaugurated today.

Portal Sanubdii (we will create) is the first of its kind in the world, and offers 184 services to craftsmen, investors, and employees in the sector. The portal is presented by the Public Authority for Crafts Industies.

His Excellency Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court, inaugurated the opening event and said, “This is the first electronic platform of its kind to offer these services in the world, and we hope that it offers incentives to guarantee that crafts will remain in-pace with progress.”

According to a statement by the authority, the portal includes “184 services, as well as a mobile application and a tender system. The services include licensing, training, crafts support, copyright, quality assurance, and design services for crafts industries, as well as registration for electronic marketing for both craftsmen and investors.

“41 of the 184 services are for craftsmen, added to 37 for investors. There are also 16 specific services for non-Omanis,” the statement added. People can learn crafts, find access to agencies related to their crafts, and there is even a section for children.

Her Excellency Sheikha Aisha al Siyabi, President of PACI, said,“The accomplishments of the authority have served to build on the necessary conditions for success, including the authority winning eight international prizes from the World Crafts Council in 2018.”

“We also hope that it reinforces the Public Authority of Crafts Industry’s role as a regional institution that can safeguard and develop crafts industries and market them in tourist hubs,”Sayidd Khalid added.

“We value all the efforts spent in growing the sector of crafts industries, which provided positive indices, in the Sultanate,”Sheikha Aisha added.
