Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher to close at 4421.12 points, up by 0.14 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 602.01 points, up by 0.11 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Majan College up by 7.35 per cent while the top loser was Nat. Pharmaceutical Ind. which closed lower by 1.56 per cent.
A total number of 262 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR888,000 with more than 4.34 million shares changing hands. Out of 37 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 7 declined and 25 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR200,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR149,000 while Omani investors remained as net sellers for OMR350,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.10 per cent at 6930.45 points. HSBC Bank Oman and Bank Sohar were up by 0.84 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance and Bank Muscat were down 1.18 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.08 per cent to close at 5310.96 points. Raysut Cement was up by 0.52 per cent. Nat. Pharmaceutical Ind, Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineering and Oman Flour Mills were down by 1.56 per cent, 1.3 per cent, 1.01 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Services Index gained 0.13 per cent to close at 2397.38 points. Majan College and Ooredoo were up by 7.35 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating Company was down by 1.38 per cent.
