Muscat: Oman's Majlis A'Shura will hold the fourth regular session of the first annual sitting for the eighth term from November 12, with Council of Oman session scheduled for November 13.
Sheikh Ali bin Nassir al Mahrouqi, secretary general of the Majlis A'Shura said in a statement, "The Council will discuss during its first regular session the articles of contrast and materials that the State Council saw to add it to the draft law on the tax on selective goods, in preparation for discussion in the joint session with the State Council, in response to the royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said."
The annual session of the Council of Oman (the State Council and Majlis Al Shura) will be on November 13.
Al Mahrouqi added that the council will discuss the aims of the Services and Social Development Committee on the draft agreement of cooperation in the field of maritime transport between Oman and Iran.
Members of the Shura Council will also be briefed on the draft State Budget for the fiscal year 2019, as well as a number of draft conventions referred to the Council, including draft convention cooperation in the field of maritime transport and ports between Oman and Morocco; air transport agreements between Oman and Malta; and draft services agreement between Oman and Kenya, in addition to "a number of other important topics".
Meanwhile the Majlis Al Shura Office yesterday discussed several issues on its agenda for this meeting related to the work and plans of the standing committees of the Majlis.
The Office hosted the heads of the standing committees of the Majlis to discuss the plans and work of the committees for the 4th sitting (2018-2019) of the 8th term.
This came during the 23rd meeting of Majlis Al Shura Office of the 3rd annual sitting (2017-2018) of the 8th term, under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis A’Shura, in the presence of the members of Majlis Al Shura Office, Heads of standing committees, and Sheikh Ali bin Nasser Al Mahrouqi, Secretary General of the Majlis.
Plans
The plans of the standing committees of the Majlis included a review of a number of proposals and draft laws in various fields, such as the proposal of the Social Responsibility Law, and Legal Profession Law, in addition to a number of laws referred by the government.
The plans also included a series of studies and supervisory tools that the committees intend to examine in depth Including observations, proposals, recommendations and conclusions to be reached, based on the core of its work, in accordance with Articles 70 and 71 of the Majlis Bylaws.
