Musandam has welcomed a quarter of a million tourists so far this year

Muscat: The Ministry of Tourism has announced that nearly 250,000 tourists visited Musandam over the first nine months of the current year, in order to take in the governorate's various natural and historical tourism attractions.

Mohammad Al Dhahouri, acting Director of Tourism in the Musandam governorate, said "The statistics indicate that 249,933 tourists visited the governorate up until the end of the third quarter of [the current] year."

Al Dhahouri added that 72 cruise ships are due to visit the Port of Khasab from October 2018 to May 2019, while plans are underway regarding the establishment of eight hotels in the governorate.

Last year Musandam welcomed a total of 158,855 tourists and 34 cruise ships.

There are presently 26 tourism companies operating in the governorate.

The Ministry of Tourism is making Musandam a priority as part of its sustainable tourism development strategy and comprehensive economic development strategy.

Various parts of the governorate have been offered up for tourism investment, and there are also plans for Musandam governorate to start diverse projects and offer more services.
