Nepali expats invited to attend social club’s general assembly

Muscat: The Non Resident Nepali Social Club is preparing for the 2019 General Assembly and is inviting all members of the Nepali diaspora to join them at the event.
Set to be held on March 29, 2019, the event will start at 1pm. Speaking to the Times of Oman, Deepak Shrestha, President of the Non Resident Nepali Social Club, said, “We are inviting all Nepalis living in Oman to join us for the General Assembly, which will see the selection of a new committee for the social club that will serve from 2019-2021.”
“There are approximately more than 17,000 Nepalis living in Oman. The club is focused on providing social support in Oman and in Nepal; we do our best to promote tourism, athletics, and cultural exchanges between our beloved countries,” he said.
“Since February 27, 2017, we have been registered with the Ministry of Social Development. The club was established to continue fostering the close relationship between Oman and Nepal, a relationship bound by strong ties and fraternity. I am happy to say that we already have more than 400 members, a number that is steadily increasing day-by-day,” Shrestha added.
Bikal Jha, a spokesman for the club, added, “The purpose of the event is to unite all Nepalis in Oman for our betterment and that of the community. This is in line with the main theme of the Non Resident Nepali Social Club, which can be summed up as ‘for Nepali, by Nepali’.”
