Takatuf Petrofac Oman Institute worth OMR12.4Mn inaugurated in Oman

Muscat: A state-of-the-art institute, Takatuf Petrofac Oman (TPO), was opened on Wednesday, under the patronage of Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas, with excellencies and officials from the oil and gas industry in attendance.
TPO, located in Knowledge Oasis Muscat, is a 60:40 joint venture between Takatuf and Petrofac. According to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, "The institute contributes to enhancing the capacity of future and current cadres to support the energy and utility sector. It costs about OMR 12.4 million. "
The institute has room for more than 600 students and is the only institute in Oman that is internationally accredited to provide vocational training programmes up to the 3rd Level Diploma.
Commenting on the opening, Eng. Isam bin Saud Al Zadjali, CEO of Oman Oil company said, “Such training institutes will improve the availability of a skilled workforce in the oil and gas industry.”
Also, Sheikh Khalid Al Hinai, Chairman of TPO, added, “TPO’s mandate is to deliver modern training programmes, utilising four live plants as training environments which replicate real oil and gas facilities. This creates a risk-free, immersive environment which enables students to obtain practical and hands-on experience in plant operations, including failures and shut-downs, that is otherwise difficult to replicate on site.”
