Indonesian plane crashes, sinks with 189 on board

A Lion Air passenger plane crashed into the sea near Indonesia on Monday with 189 people onboard.

Officials said Lion Air flight JT610 is believed to have sunk after it went down not long after leaving the capital Jakarta.

They also said the plane requested to return to base before it lost contact, 13 minutes after takeoff.

Authorities said they can't confirm the cause until they find the plane's black box, the cockpit recorder that captures voice and flight data
