Oman Post inks pact to boost environment awareness

Muscat: Oman Post has partnered with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) to promote environmental awareness. A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in order for both entities to achieve the government body’s goal of enhancing and protecting the
environment.
As part of the initiative, educational material produced by the Ministry about the importance of protecting the environment will be distributed using Oman Post’s extensive network of branches across the Sultanate.
In today’s digitally-connected world, Oman Post’s social media platforms will play a pivotal role in spreading awareness. In addition, a joint working committee will be formed to work on a detailed plan of activities, which will be announced throughout the year.
“Socio-economic development and environmental conservation must go hand in hand and we believe that Oman Post is the ideal partner to help us spread awareness on a large scale throughout the Sultanate,” said Najib Ali Al Rowas, Undersecretary of the MECA.
“We are confident that this year-long initiative will reap positive results and that citizens and residents alike will play a role in protecting and preserving Oman’s natural beauty for generations to come.”
Abdulmalik Al Balushi, CEO of Oman Post, said, “We believe that environmental conservation is a national duty, and action must be taken today before it is too late; this is why we have partnered with the MECA so that our extensive network across the Sultanate can deliver the message home and drive change.”
He added, “We are much more than just a postal services company, we are a transformative company that is in the business of connecting people. We are committed to adding value and enhancing the lives of the people of Oman in every way we can.”
Oman Post is also working with other entities, including Dar Al Atta’a Association as a logistics partner to support the women’s empowerment programme “Min Beiti”, as well as Thawani, which provides customers with innovative e-payment solutions.
