​16 kilograms of sea snails seized from fishermen in Oman

Muscat: A total of 16 kilograms of sea snails were seized by authorities for being caught outside the permitted fishing season.

The monitoring team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Dhofar, managed to seize 16 kg of fresh abalone that was caught during the ban on their fishing. "The team also seized a number of nets that were set up to catch fish outside the fishing season," the ministry added.

An Abalone is a name given to a group of small to very large sea snails. It is commonly known as the ear shells, sea ears, and muttonfish.

The ministry called on everyone to follow the fishing seasons set in accordance with the law of marine fishing and the protection of water resources.
