Indian airline changes fare for repatriation of expat remains

Muscat: India’s national carrier Air India (AI) has decided to implement uniform charges for flying human remains from Muscat to India, a senior official of the Air India based in Muscat confirmed on Saturday.
Speaking to Times of Oman, the official said: "The rates are more or less the same — earlier, we used to charge on weight basis. Now, it will be a flat rate of OMR160 on all mortal remains irrespective of destination and weight of the body.
The official added that in the case of the remains of children below the age of 12, the amount would be OMR80.
