Oman to attract OMR3b foreign investment in power, water projects

Muscat: Oman will attract around OMR3 billion foreign investment in the next four to five years in various independent power and water projects that are in different stages of planning, design and development, according to a top-level official of OPWP.
This is the investment in various independent water and power projects until 2019, said Eng.Yaqoob bin Saif Al Kiyumi, chief operating officer of OPWP.
Investment for building independent power and water projects are made by international companies or consortiums that win concession for developing such projects. The projects that were recently awarded include major independent power projects in Ibri and Sohar; water projects in Quriyyat and Sohar and similar water projects planned in Salalah and Sohar.
Eng. Al Kiyumi said that foreign companies can safely invest their money in Oman. “It is a win-win situation for both companies and investors.”
