Al Mantheri takes part in OIC summit

Istanbul: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council took part in 13th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which started in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday under the slogan of “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace .”
The meeting concluded yesterday with the issuance of Istanbul Declaration. The communiqué reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause was the core for the Muslim nations. The participants called for holding an international peace conference to set mechanisms for the protection of the Palestinians and to put an end to the occupation of the Palestinian territories as well as to the Lebanese lands. The declaration also stressed the withdrawal of Israel from the occupied territories.
The participants also welcomed the dialogue among the political sides in Lebanon and appreciated the efforts of Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and Turkey on welcoming the Syrian refugees.

Al Mantheri met Dr. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of the 13th Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, matters of mutual interest and ways of strengthening cooperation between them in various fields.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its Permanent Representative to OIC, Sayyid Qais bin Salim Al Said, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a number of Iranian officials.
