Salalah receives Russian tourists

Salalah: Salalah Airport yesterday received its first tourist flights to the Governorate of Dhofar via Russian / Nordwind / Airlines in cooperation with Russian Pegas company and Meeting Point International Company in their first tourist season.
The Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the Oman Airports, organised a reception for tourists arriving at Salalah airport, which included the submission of water shows to the plane and a number of traditional Omani arts in the presence of a number of officials from government agencies, specialists in the field of tourism and various media.
Marhoon bin Said Al A’meri, Director General of the General Directorate of Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar said that attracting the tourist groups coming from Russia will enhance the tourism movement in the activities, especially as it has witnessed during the last period the opening of several projects that support the growth of tourism sector in different seasons of the year.
He said that Dhofar is characterized by moderate weather in most months of the year, making it a destination for European tourism in the winter.
through the presence of many tourist attractions, in addition to environmental diversity, such as beaches, mountains and deserts.
He added that the number of Russian tourists in their first season to the governorate is expected to reach 5,400 pointing to the increase in the number of direct tourist trips and achieving a an occupancy rate of more than 90 per cent in hotel establishments during the winter tourism season.
