Luban: 26 expats rescued from sea, 102 evacuated in Dhofar

Muscat: A total of 102 people have been evacuated from Mirbat, and another 773 sheltered from the tropical storm Luban, rescue forces have announced. Another 26 "Asian nationals" were also rescued from two ships at sea, after Coast Guard police received distress calls.
Citizens and residents that live near the beach in Wilayat Mirbat have been evacuation by the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance in Dhofar. The evacuation was done in cooperation with other authorities.
“102 citizens and expats were transported to a shelter centre in the wilayat for ensure their saftey from the effect of the tropical storm Luban,” PACDA said.
Meanwhile, the National Committee for Civil Defence (NCCD) said that 773 people have been given shelter in various Wilayas.
“The relief and shelter department has received 773 citizens and residents, who have been sent to the equipped shelters in Dhofar,” NCCD said.
On Friday, the Coast Guard responded to "a distress call from two passing ships, and 26 persons of Asian nationality were rescued from the ships," NCCD reported.
The rescue was done in cooperation with ⁦Salalah Port⁩ Company.
