Muscat: Due to predicted heavy rains accompanied by high swind and runoff of the wadis in Dhofar, citizens and residents have been warned against crossing wadis and have been asked to avoid low lying areas. According to the latest storm update from the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, the centre of the storm is 400 km from Salalah and the wind speed around the centre is 55-63 knots. The storm continues to move westwards towards Yemen, near the coast of Dhofar.
Dhofar is likely to be affected directly by the storm on Saturday and Sunday with torrential rains that could cause wadis to overflow, with active winds of 30 to 40 knots and winds of high speeds near mountainous areas.
The sea will continue to rage and waves will reach a maximum height of 6-8 metres.
Authorities have also warned people not to enter the sea during this period and to follow warnings issued by the body.
There are chances of an indirect impact on the southern parts of the Al Wusta governorate that will receive heavy rainfall and active winds of 25 to 30 knots on Saturday and Sunday.
