Ministry, Al Jisr sign pact for Sur Hospital dialysis unit

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Wednesday signed an agreement for the construction of a dialysis unit at Sur hospital funded by Al Jisr Foundation.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Darweesh Saif Al Maharbi, MoH’s Undersecretary for Administrative & Financial Affairs, and Al Jisr’s General Manager Ahmed Hilal Al Harthi. Dr. Al Maharbi emphasised the significance of public and private sector partnerships for general interest, praising Al Jisr’s initiative.
Al Jisr’s general manager stressed the institution’s continuing commitment to partnerships and cooperation with government institutions to serve the development of the country, including with regard to health services provided to citizens.
Sur hospital provides several services, including the provision of dialysis treatment, to various patients through its operating renal dialysis unit. Therefore, the construction of a new building for offering dialysis service is a remarkable addition to the provided health services due to the increase in patients’ strength and congestion, as well as the impossibility of critical treatment.
It should be noted that while the old building comprises 14 beds, accommodating around 34 patients, and two beds in three isolation rooms, the proposed new building will be built on an area of 1,150 square metres, comprising 20 beds that can cater to 60 patients a day.
The renal dialysis unit provides services to wilayats, as well as the governorate’s residents.
