Pakistan ambassador, OHA chief discuss Asian Champions Trophy

Muscat: Ali Javed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, received Captain Talib Al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Oman Hockey Association (OHA), and Shakir Munir, Director External Relations, OHA, in his office yesterday, and discussed mutual cooperation for the forthcoming Asian Champions Trophy (ACT 18), being hosted in Muscat from October 18 to 28, as well as the promotion of hockey among the youth and partnerships with businesses and media.
Praising the OHA for securing the first-ever ACT in the GCC and while underlining hockey as the national sport of Pakistanis, the ambassador expressed support for the event featuring Pakistan, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and hosts Oman.
The chairman of OHA gifted 100 tickets for Pakistan’s matches against Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Oman. The ambassador announced that the gifted tickets would be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis among students of seven branches of the Pakistan School System (6,000 students), City School and Beacon House Schools (900).
Recalling the first ever ‘Oman-Pakistan Friendship Cup’ a five-match bilateral Hockey Series played in Muscat in September 2017, and the Tri-Nation Series with the addition of Japan in February 2018, Captain Talib expressed appreciation for the Pakistani Business community led by ‘Stars Light, ‘Syed Fayyaz Group’, ‘Gulf Neon Signs’, ‘PIA’ whereas the ambassador expressed appreciation for ‘Khurshid Trading & Contracting’, ‘Ghazal Rice’, ‘Mohammed Riaz & Partners’, ‘AZ Engineers’ and ‘Mirza & Partners’ for their commitment to buying out all available tickets for each match featuring Pakistan.
