MUSCAT: Women’s Cricket Sohar (WCS) held Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) to a thrilling tie in the last over of the Women’s League game at Ministry of Sports (MOS) grassy ground 2 in Al Amerat on Monday.
Batting first, WCS was bundled out for 99 in 19.1 overs. With 14 off 15 balls, Jasvinder Kaur was the only batswomen to have made a double figure score.
Hina Javed was the most successful PSM bowler taking 3 for 21 while Fiza Javed and Amal Binte Saleem took two wickets each.
PSM got off to a flying start as openers Fiza (30) and Hina (21) put together a 63-run partnership which was finally broken in the 9th over. WCS fought back into the game with some tight bowling and fielding. Requiring one to win off the last ball of the 20th over, PSM’s Kanza Hatem (0 off 19 balls) was run out and the match ended in a tie with both teams carrying one point each.

Priyanka, Shreya star for ISG
Earlier, flexing its muscles, Indian School Ghubrah (ISG) trounced PSM by 62 runs in a Women’s League game at MOS grassy ground 1.
ISG posted a healthy 151 without loss in 20 overs as Priyanka Mendonca slammed a strokeful 80 off 78 balls while fellow opener Shreya Sandhesh remained unbeaten at 24 off 53.
Reduced to 55 for 5 in the 13th over, PSM failed to stage recovery, managing a meagre 89 for 9 in 20 overs. Hina Javed topscored with 13 off 15. Shreya Sandhesh was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 9 in her 4-over spell. Nayan Molly and Eyakkeya Srinivasan took two wickets each.

Amanpreet bowls ISWK to victory
In a Junior league 50-over Under-19 match at MOS ground 2 on Saturday, Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) thrashed Bosher Olympic Center (BOC) by 9 wickets thanks to superb five-wicket spell by Amanpreet Singh.
BOC was shot out for 87 in 38.3 overs and that included 30 extras. Singh bagged 5 for 15 while Kevin Stagy and Yash Mehta claimed two wickets each.
ISWK raced to the target in the 13th over scoring 88 for 1, Kevin Stagy remained not out on 36 off 44.

PSM too good for ISD
In another Under-19 clash, PSM continued its winning run, handing Indian School Darsait (ISD) a 120-run drubbing at MOS ground 1.
Opting to bat first, PSM scored 208 for 8 in 50 overs with Mohammed Saqib (52 off 104) and Muzahir Raza (24 off 50) making notable contributions. Abhimanyu Bhati bagged 2 wickets for 31.
ISD failed to pose any threat and folded up for only 88 in 29 overs. Young all-rounder Obaidullah claimed 3 for 20 while Adeel Abbas took 2 for 29.
Brief scores: PSM 208 for 8 in 20 overs (Mohammed saqib 52 – 3x4, Muzahir Raza 24 – 3x4. Abhimanyu Bhati 2-31) beat ISD 88 all out in 29 overs (Obaidullah 3-20, Adeel Abbas 2-29) by 120 runs.
PSM downs ISG in U-16 clash
In a Junior League U-16 game at Muscat Municipality ground 1 on Saturday, Abdullah Iftikhar slammed 81-ball 97 to power PSM to an 8-wicket win over Indian School Ghubrah.
Chasing 201 to win, PSM reached the target in the 25th over, scoring 201 for 2 thanks to Abdullah’s smashing knock. Bilal Asim stayed unbeaten on 46.
