Expats arrested for smuggling alcohol in Oman

Muscat: Two expats of “asian nationality” have been arrested by the Coast Guard police, on charges of smuggling alcohol, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced. In addition to that, the coast guard also provided assistance to two Omani boats, officials said.
In the first case, the accused were arrested near the Dibba coast, when police found over 1,400 cans of alcohol.
ROP said, “The Coast Guard Police arrested two people of Asian nationality on charges of smuggling alcohol. Officials found more than 1,400 cans of alcohol. Legal action was taken against the accused after which they were sent to the concerned authorities."
In the other case, the Coast Guard police at Musandam and Quriyat provided assistance to two boats. The first boat had crashed at sea, near the village of Kamzar in Musandam governorate and the other boat was helped near Quriyat. The two boats and their crew of four were towed to the ports of those states.
