Food Day collections start in October

Muscat: Dar Al Atta’a is preparing to celebrate the global food day by engaging schools, companies and volunteers to collect food to be distributed on October 16, the day the world celebrates World Food Day every year.
Many organisations concerned with food security celebrate this day, including the World Food Programme. Over 150 countries celebrate the occasion every year.
Commenting on this initiative, Marketing Manager Maysaa Al Hanai said, “The association celebrates this occasion yearly in order to raise awareness among the members of the society and make them aware about the concept of food security and the need for solidarity between members of a society and companies to achieve the balance of food security across all segments of society.
“We at Dar Al Atta’a are engaging the community — individuals and institutions—working with us to collect the largest amount of food to be distributed to those eligible to celebrate this day. The association is open to receiving food donations daily at Ruwi next to Al-Najah private school, in addition to the headquarters of the association at Bausher on October 10.
