Muscat: A police officer was seriously injured after a truck hit his vehicle, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) confirmed.
According to an official from the ROP, the accident took place on the Expressway before the Barka bridge. “A truck hit two police patrol vehicles on the Expressway and then overturned. The accident occurred after a police car broke down on the Expressway, and a second police vehicle arrived to assist the driver, parked behind the broken down car and used the hazard board to warn drivers.”
“Nonetheless, a truck came from behind and hit the police vehicle, which then hit the broken down vehicle,” the official said. “One of the police officers jumped out of the car in time, but the other could not make it and fell to the ground.”
According to the police, “Sgt. Hamoud Al Busaidi suffered a severe injury that led to bleeding in his head; he was sent to Sultan Qaboos University Hospital for an emergency surgery.”
“Our prayers go out to our brother and colleague,” the official added.
