Water supply cuts scheduled for some parts of Oman

Muscat: The Public Authority for Electricity and Water (Diam) will start up-gradation and maintenance work at the pumping station in Wilayat Al Qabil in Northern Sharqiyah, leading to a 48 suspension of all water supply to Al Qabil, Ibra and Al Mudhaibi, authorities have announced.
Eng. Ibrahim Al Nozwani, Director of the Operations Department in North Sharqiyah said that the works include the installation of larger pumps for water flow operations at the other stations, suppled by the Al Qabil Reservoir in Ibra and Al Mudhaibi.
"As a result of the rehabilitation work, water will be suspended during the period of implementation, which will affect the wilayas that are supplied by the station," Al Nozwani said.
"It will also affect water networks and filling stations for tankers, and is expected to continue for 48 hours, from Sunday at 9:00 pm to Tuesday at 9:00 pm," he added.
According to authorities at Diam, all preparations will be made to ensure that there is no lack of water, and that all stations in the three wilayas will be filled.
"Consumers should ration their water consumption during the period of implementation of the linking works, in addition to ensuring that their tankers at home are filled to cover 48 hours," Diam added.
