Two expats in Oman arrested on charges of forgery

Muscat: Two expats were arrested for forging official documents, after the Royal Oman Police (ROP) discovered several forged medical certificates.

Officials revealed that the expats of “Asian nationality” were arrested in Al Batinah.

The official statement from ROP said, "The Department of Criminal Investigation, led by the police of North Al Batinah governorate, arrested two Asian nationals on charges of forging official documents.

“The Department of Civil Status in the north of Al Batinah has discovered forging stamps [that were used to create counterfeit] medical certificates. The department discovered this forgery after receiving forged medical documents. After a search and investigation was conducted, [officials arrested the] defendants and then seized six visas and medical examination papers from them," ROP added.

Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway.
