Muscat: The General Federation of Oman Trade Unions (GFOTU) received the regional director of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Regional Office for the Arab States.
Nabhan Al Batashi, Chairman of the GFOTU, and a number of board members received a delegation from the Regional Office for Arab States of the ILO, chaired by the regional director of the Regional Labour Office in Beirut, Ruba Jaradat.
The visit comes within the cooperation with the Sultanate, represented by the three parties of production: the Ministry of Manpower, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the GFOTU with the ILO.
During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed related to the trade union situation in the Sultanate and mechanisms to strengthen the existing partnership between the Union and the ILO by continuing to benefit from the organisation’s expertise in the development and rehabilitation of trade union cadres in Oman.
It also stressed the commitment of the federation over efforts to promote social dialogue between the three production partners in the Sultanate to serve the development of the labour market.
Parallel to the meeting, workshops were held at the GFOTU headquarters between members of various trade unions in the Sultanate and the trade union specialist.
