AER to organise energy auditing training programme

Muscat: In line with its commitment towards increasing energy efficiency in the Sultanate, the Authority for Electricity Regulation (AER) is organising a Certified Energy Auditing training programme for Omani nationals in the energy auditing field.
The two-week session aims at qualifying trainees to be part of the forthcoming programme for the establishment of the Energy Service Companies mandated to check and audit government buildings with regard to their energy use and consumption. The sessions will be provided by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), an American nonprofit professional society.
The Authority officially announced the Energy Auditing Training Programme in June 2018. It received a total of 600 applications, screened to 128 qualifying applicants. The AEE (training provider) was asked to further examine the applications and select candidates who met its specific requirements, with a total of 78 candidates ultimately passing the final selection stage. These candidates were then contacted by the Authority, which carried out a phone interview to shortlist the final 50 applicants to take part in the Authority’s energy audit training programme.
