Transport Minister holds review meeting

Muscat: Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications held a review meeting in his office with officials on budgets and performance, which is part of a national initiative.
During the meeting, the Minister of Transport and Communications was acquainted with several points regarding the project execution. Issues discussed included the need to apply the programmes budget and performance evaluation, the direct link between objectives and execution of programmes and its relation with relative government units.
The sequential relation between the government plans and annual budgets, institutional performance of programmes and individual performance of staff also came up for discussion.
He reviewed the elements of the Ministry of Transport and Communication’s shift towards budget of programmes and performance being done in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, the Supreme Council of Planning, Ministry of Civil Service and experts from the World Bank. Seven introductory workshops about the project had been held for staff in line with the strategic plan. Currently preparations are on for applying measurement indicators.
