Oman share index ends higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher on Wednesday and closed at 4,431.24 points, up by 0.48 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 616.70 points, up by 0.96 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Alizz Islamic Bank, up by 5.95 per cent. The top loser was Renaissance Services, which closed lower by 3.33 per cent.
A total number of 577 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.65 million with more than 10.75 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 10 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR149,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR75,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR225,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.83 per cent to close at 6,911.44 points. Alizz Islamic Bank, Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Muscat and HSBC Bank Oman were up by 5.95 per cent, 2.3 per cent, 2.11 per cent, 1.08 per cent and 0.85 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance, Oman United Insurance, Bank Dhofar and Ominvest were down by 1.16 per cent, 0.65 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.14 per cent to close at 5,473.33 points. There were no gainers. Salalah Mills and National Aluminium Products were down by 1.48 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index gained 0.16 per cent to close at 2,378.77 points. Ooredoo, Almaha Petroleum Products, Phoenix Power and Omantel were up by 2.34 per cent, 2.15 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services, OIFC, Muscat City Desalination and National Gas were down by 3.33 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.74 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively.
