PACDA issues guidelines for safety of teachers, students as new session begins

Muscat: As the new academic year begins, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) has advised teachers and students to follow guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone concerned.
PACDA has also trained a number of students and staff on fire extinguishing methods and ways to identify the exits of emergency and assembly points. Individuals were also taught how to ensure that all electronic appliances were switched off before leaving the building.
PACDA also highlighted safety methods that must be observed during science classes, such as “ensuring all the laboratory equipment is in the right place, making sure it is free from chemical substances and ensuring that students are wearing safety attire during practical tests”.
The authority also advised the management of educational institutions to carry out regular maintenance of electrical appliances, in addition to providing safety tools such as fire extinguishers and putting them in prominent places for them to be easily used during emergencies.
