
Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture received in his office on Tuesday morning a delegation of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with the World Cricket Cup of the championship scheduled to be held in London in June 2019.
The Sultanate’s role in the cricket and the advanced levels of the national cricket team during its participation in previous regional and international tournaments were reviewed during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Sa’ad bin Mohammed Al Mardhouf Al Sa’adi, Minister of Sports Affairs and board members of Oman Cricket Club.
An official reception was held for the Cricket World Cup, which arrived in the Sultanate on Monday at the Muscat International Airport with the ICC delegation.
The ICC delegation and the Cup will tour a number of landmarks in the Governorate of Muscat, including the National Museum, the Royal Opera House Muscat and the Oman Cricket Club.
The Sultanate’s hosting of the World Cricket Cup is part of the tour organised by the Championship’s Organising Committee in ten countries participating in the championship.
