Muscat: A Patient Safety Friendly Hospital (PSFH) initiative has been launched by the Ministry of Health, represented by the Quality Assurance Centre, launched on Thursday at the Khawla Hospital.
The initiative aims at implementing a programme to ensure patient safety in hospitals through using scientific standards that allow the hospitals to evaluate the services delivered to the patients. In addition, it will also enable enhancing the capacities of all staff members working in patient safety.
It is worth mentioning that the PSFH is a mechanism developed to assess patient safety in hospitals. It offers a way to define the level of patient safety.
The PSFH initiative is one of the World Health Organization’s initiatives, aimed at assisting the health institutions to start implementing a programme on patient safety. Earlier, the same initiative was launched at Nizwa, Rustaq and Starecare Hospitals.
