Muscat Expressway to be widened: Municipality

Muscat: Plans are underway to widen the Muscat Expressway road from Qurum to Halban, according to a statement from Muscat Municipality (MM).
MM is currently in the process of preparing a detailed design of widening the Muscat Expressway "along the full length from Qurum towards Mabellah and Halban. This shall include adding lanes to the main carriageway, CD roads, and interchanges ramps/loops."
According to the authority, the purpose of the project is to account for growing traffic demand and for the expected developments along the road. "The construction of the proposed widening is expected to ensure acceptable traffic performance along Muscat Expressway by upcoming years," MM added in its statement.
However, no definite time has been given for the execution of the project.
