Oman’s consumer watchdog helps recover OMR18,710 in one month

Muscat: Officials from the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in the Wilayat of Seeb helped recover OMR18,710 in one month, authorities announced.
The amount was recovered by the Complaints Department after officials resolved several grievances in the month of July, 2018.
According to authorities, the highest amount recovered was OMR8,725 from the labour services sector, followed by OMR 3,795 from the aluminium, blacksmithing and carpentry workshops. While OMR1,965 was recovered from workshops that repair cars, the rest of the amount was recovered from various other sectors.
Ziad Al Wahaibi, Director of the Department said: "The Department is working hard to preserve the rights of consumers through various legal means available. [The department also] stresses on the importance of the role of the consumer and their cooperation in submitting reports against violators."
