Muscat: Indians living in the Sultanate and Omani nationals can now participate in the global “Bharat Ko Janiye” quiz competition after the Embassy of India in Muscat announced its official launch.
The competition is being organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and participants will be divided into three categories: Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Omanis.
The quiz topics include Indian art, democracy, economy, geography, music, dance, science and technology, languages and literature, and education, among others.
“Bharat Ko Janiye 2018” will be conducted in four rounds. The first round of the quiz will be conducted online for participants from Oman at www.bharatkojaniye.in from September 16 to 30, 2018.
Online registration is open until September 15. The top three participants from Oman in each category will receive an award from the Indian embassy in Muscat. The winners will also qualify for the second round of the quiz.
The second round will be conducted for winners of the first round from across the globe in the same three categories.
The top 10 finalists in each category will subsequently be invited to participate in the third and fourth rounds of the competition, which will be held in New Delhi. Airfare and hotel stays will be organised for their success in reaching the last stages of the competition in New Delhi.
Additionally, they will be invited to join “Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra”, a 15-day tour of India.
The top three winners of the final round will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, as well as certificates, during the 15th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Convention 2019, which will be held from January 21 to 23, 2019, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
