Equestrian: Royal Cavalry completes hat-trick of wins in Britain

MUSCAT: Oman’s Royal Cavalry completed a hat-trick of victories by winning three big races held at the Dubai International Arabian Race Day in Britain’s Newbury Racecourse.
A total of 80 Pure Arabian horses and winners of Group 1 took part in the race. Royal Cavalry’s Nafees, ridden by Olivier Peleh and trained by Charles Gordon won the main race despite having strong competition, while, Al Shami won the fourth race for Pure Arabian horses from Group 1 over a distance of 1200m, Al Tharwah a filly took the third race which was held over 1400m was ridden by Olivier Peleh and trained by Said Al Badi. Hatrick the other horse from the same stables won three cups.
“The races held at the Newbury Racecourse was very competitive and I am extremely happy with the outcome of the results, especially the horse Nafees from the Royal Cavalry who won the main event of day,” said Brigadier General Abdulrazak bin Abdulqader Al Shahwarzi, commander of Royal Cavalry.
Laheeb the stallion, owned by Royal Cavalry came third in the second race for Pure Arabian horses held over a distance of 2000m, at the UAE Embassy in London Handicapped Stakes. The stallion was ridden by Anas Al Siabi and was trained by Said Al Badi.
Stallion No An No Almurry, Emirati both owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum took the first and second spot respectively.
