12 students represent Oman at the London International Youth Science Forum

Muscat: A total of 12 students as part of The Research Council (TRC) are representing the Sultanate at the ongoing London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) 2018.
The event that has registered nearly 500 researchers from 60 countries will go on until August 8. The students from Oman were chosen after their projects were selected from a total of 30 projects that were submitted as part of the Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research Award Program (FURAP).
Students will be participating in a number of scientific lectures and will also go on field visits to research centres, industrial institutions, and a number of colleges and scientific institutes, such as the Imperial College London, London University College, the Royal Institute, London Wetland Centre, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, in addition to the British National Space Centre, the National Oceanography Centre and the British Geological Survey.
Through LIYSF, TRC aims to help young Omanis expand their knowledge in the area of science and technology through their exposure to workshops, lectures and visits to UK’s leading universities. In addition to that, they also get the opportunity to attend lectures by leading international scientists from around the world and get to visit leading laboratories and institutes, such as Airbus and Rolls Royce.
