Drug rehabilitation centre in Sohar set for September launch

Muscat: The construction of the Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Sohar is now 97 per cent complete, with costs estimated at over OMR1 million.
The project, which was initiated by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with Sohar Municipality, is scheduled for completion and delivery by the last quarter of this year. “Construction will be completed by mid-September this year,” an official from the Jusoor Institution told the Times of Oman.
Sohar Municipality will provide the internal equipment for the project. The centre is an example of a successful partnership between the government and the private sector.
The total construction cost of OMR1,611,000 will be funded by Orpic, Sohar Aluminium, and Vale companies as part of the service project programmes implemented by Jusoor.
The 3,502.16sq.m facility will provide treatment and rehabilitation services for drug dependents and raise public awareness on risks posed by drug addiction to individuals and the society.
