Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: The MSM30 Index ended lower on Tuesday and closed at 4,442.49 points, down by 0.14 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 632.56 points, down by 0.44 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Al Jazeera Services, up by 4.72 per cent, while top loser was Salalah Mills, which closed lower by 6.98 per cent.
A total number of 678 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR2.95 million with more than 16.81 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 13 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR664,000 worth of shares followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR244,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR909,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.03 per cent to close at 6,847.13 points. Oman Qatar Insurance, HSBC Bank and Bank Muscat were up by 1.82 per cent, 0.84 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment, National Bank Of Oman and Bank Sohar were down by 4.26 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.77 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index lost 1.19 per cent to close at 5,788.97 points. Galfar Engineering was up by 2.06 per cent. Salalah Mills, Al Maha Ceramics, Al Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 6.98 per cent, 6.05 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.14 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index gained 0.03 per cent to close at 2,407.32 points. Al Jazeera Services, Al Suwadi Power and Oman National Engineering and Investment were up by 4.72 per cent, 1.72 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively. Ooredoo, Muscat City Desalination, National Gas and Omantel were down by 0.75 per cent, 0.71 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
