NBC outlines opportunities in Sandan City

Muscat: The National Business Centre (NBC), which falls under the umbrella of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), on Monday organised the Mashura event, which consists of a series of workshops that focus on providing specialised business consultancy for incubated companies.
The Mashura event, which was held at the Riyada incubator, highlighted the available investment opportunities in Sandan City.
Briefing the entrepreneurs on these opportunities, Sultan Al Kindi, head of community affairs at Sandan Development, said Sandan City is designed according to international standards to be the first integrated city for light industries in the Sultanate.
“Sandan City is a result of a vision that aims to benefit from sustainable property development to meet the needs of businesses and consumers, as well as to provide freehold opportunities in various stages of development,” said Al Kindi.
Al Kindi noted that Sandan City is located in a vital location between the Muscat and Al Batinah governorates. He added that the planning of Sandan City embodied a collaborative effort between a pool of skilled people, consultants, business leaders, and trade and industry experts in Oman.
The city offers a number of quality service outlets, including vehicle showrooms and workshops, offices, warehouses, as well as business and residential units with a flexible freehold system. Al Kindi said the total built up area in the city stands at 320,000sq.m and includes 47 showrooms that can accommodate more than 1,200 cars. Moreover, the city targets several segments, including cars and vehicles, building materials, warehouses, the food-related segment, and the services sector. The official opening of the city is expected to take place in November 2018.
The NBC is an initiative launched by PEIE at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat with the aim of offering promising Omani entrepreneurs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures.
The centre offers a premier platform for Omani entrepreneurs by providing business development support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully-equipped office spaces, meeting rooms, and presentation facilities.
Among the objectives of the NBC are facilitating and supporting the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses, building entrepreneurial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching, and mentoring, and providing business support facilities through the provision of office spaces, administrative support, financial support, and consultancy services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.
