Indian schools in Oman hold board elections on Jan 16

Muscat: Ten parents will be on the January ballot seeking a position on the Board of Directors (BOD) for Indian Schools in Oman.
Candidates include Dr. Chandrahas K Anchan, Mohammad Basheer, Mohammad Sabir Raza Faizi, Wilson V George, Shameer Pookaprath Thazha Kuniyil, Baby Sam Samuel Kutty, Peri Jagannadha Mani, Thomas Philip, Ajaykummar Janardhanan Pillai and Kumar Vembu
Of these, five candidates will be elected by the parents of the approximately 10,000 students from the Indian School Muscat (ISM).
This is the third election since the process was adopted in 2011.
Voting will take place at the ISM building in Darsait on Saturday, January 16 from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Votes will be counted by the authorities, under the supervision of a Ministry of Education representative.
Parents seeking a position are encouraged to check the voting lists on the website ismelections.com, as well as on the school notice boards, to ensure that their names are included.
The last date to register to vote is 2:00 pm on Monday, January 12.
Only one member of each family will be permitted to vote. The Election Commission, under the leadership of Dr. Sathish Nambiar, will oversee the board elections.
Parents are urged to avoid crowding at the registration stations, near the polling booths and in the car parking area.
