Muscat: Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy Minister of Commerce and Industry, has issued Ministerial Decision No. 123/2018 which considered three foreign standard specifications as mandatory Omani standard specifications.
The three specifications aim to regulate the gas cylinders market and to limit their risks and to make them more secure.
The decision dealt with the standard specification No. ISO 11119-3:2013 on refillable gas cylinders and pipe and the fibre-reinforced gas cylinders with capacity of 450 litres.
The second standard specification considered as mandatory Omani standard specification is ISO 14245:2006 on the LPG cylinder valves which aimed to put in place the technical compatibility for the optimal usage of cooking gas.
The third specification is EN16129:2013 on pressure regulators and the devices regulating pressure up to 4 BAR with capacity of 150kg/ hour.
The decision applied a fine of not more than OMR1,000 for violation of the provisions of this decision.
The decision shall apply after three months from its date of publication in the Official Gazette.
